Liquid ammonia, also known as anhydrous ammonia, is a colorless liquid with a strong pungent odor and corrosive. As an important chemical raw material, ammonia is usually used to obtain liquid ammonia by pressurizing or cooling gaseous ammonia for the convenience of transportation and storage. Liquid ammonia is easily soluble in water, and forms ammonium ion NH4+ and hydroxide ion OH- after dissolving in water. The solution is alkaline. Liquid ammonia solutions of sodium or other metals can also reduce alkynes to produce trans-olefins. In the chemical industry, liquid ammonia is one of the raw materials for the production of urea. Liquid ammonia is mostly stored in pressure-resistant steel cylinders or steel tanks, and cannot coexist with acetaldehyde, acrolein, boron and other substances. Liquid ammonia cylinders should be stored in a warehouse or on a platform with a shed. When stacking in the open air, it should be covered with a tent to prevent direct sunlight. Steel cylinders and tank trucks that carry liquid ammonia should be protected from heat during transportation, and fireworks are strictly prohibited.
