R-134a is a refrigerant that does not contain chlorine atoms, does not damage the ozone layer, and has good safety performance (non-flammable, non-explosive, non-toxic, non-irritating, non-corrosive), its cooling capacity and efficiency It is very close to R-12 (dichlorodifluoromethane, Freon), so it is regarded as an excellent long-term alternative refrigerant. The chemical stability of R134a is very good. However, because its water solubility is higher than that of R22, it is not good for the refrigeration system. Even if there is a small amount of water, it will produce acid, carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide under the action of lubricating oil. Corrosion or “copper plating” is produced, so R134a requires higher drying and cleaning of the system. R134a has no chemical reaction with steel, iron, copper, aluminum and other metals, and only has a slight effect on zinc.
